Miniskirts been a wardrobe staple since the 1960s but have never really been out of fashion since – and leather (or leather-look) versions have remained as popular as ever. Today, we’re looking at five out-of-the-ordinary faux leather mini skirts – each of them scoring highly in the style stakes and every single one currently available at a bargain price!
Faux Leather Chevron Mini Skirt in Black – £28 (was £36), Oasis
We begin with a skirt with a heavy ’60s influence – this black faux leather skirt from Oasis features a chevron pattern, sewn in sections with different (suede and leather-effect) textures and appearing on both the front and the back of the garment. Cut above the knee, this slightly A-line skirt is made from polyurethane fibre, zips up at the back and is fully lined. A timeless piece that can be matched with any colour!
Pink Bubble Hem Mini Skirt in Leather Look – £10.50 (was £35), ASOS Collection
Faux leather isn’t the first fabric you’d expect to be used in the creation of a bubble hem, but the resulting effect is striking, as shown in this skirt by ASOS Collection. Made from a pale pink leather-effect viscose, it is cut in a slim fit and has a press-studded placket down the front, a wide ruffled bubble hem and a high-rise waistband. With over twenty quid off its original price, it really is something of a steal!
Arianna Leather-look Tassle Mini Skirt – £7 (£18), Boohoo.com
Another texturally-interesting garment, Boohoo’s Arianna miniskirt is made from a leather-effect fabric in a khaki colour. The edge of the top section of the skirt is angled where it joins to a wide fringe. Beneath this is another layer, which has a straight and narrower fringe, so you needn’t worry about it being too revealing. This skirt is also available in black – and both have over a tenner off currently.
Faux Leather Orange Multi Mini Skirt – £5, Everything5Pounds
We’re not quite sure how they do it, but Everything5Pounds are selling this faux leather orange multi mini skirt for…you guessed it, a fiver! (They often have half-price sales though, should you be tempted to accuse us of tautology). Fastening up the back with a zip, it features another hallmark of sixties style – colourblocking – and is made up from panels of leather-effect material in red, orange and brown.
Pink Faux Leather Studded Wrap Gingham Mini Skirt – £7 (was £20), Pretty Little Thing
We finish with an altogether more contemporary take on the trend – Pretty Little Thing’s studded wrap gingham mini skirt. Made from two sections – a pink gingham base layer overlaid unexpectedly by a panel of black fake leather, edged in circular studs – it fastens to one side with a D-ring loop. It’s currently on sale at less than half its original price tag so act now if you want to acquire it in your size!
